Bryan Morse pitched brilliantly before leaving the game.
The Blue Crabs wasted a marvelous effort by starting pitcher Bryan Morse, falling in the late innings to the Somerset Patriots 5-3.
Morse went 6 innings, allowing only one hit and zero runs. Morse continued a streak that ended with 19.1 innings of work by Southern Maryland pitchers without allowing an earned run against the Patriots. The streak ended with a home run by the first batter after Morse’s departure.
Chris Maples picked up two RBI in the game, raising his total to eleven for the series. Jeremy Owens, Pat Osborn, and Clint Johnston all scored a run on the afternoon.
The Blue Crabs now head on the road for a three game series with Long Island. The Blue Crabs currently sit four games out of the first place Ducks heading into Tuesday’s action.
