George Sandel (my nickname for him is E-5) is one of the worst shortstops I’ve seen in 50 years of watching baseball. He’s a slacker, he has a bad attitude, and he has no throwing arm.
I do not understand why Sandel is kept on the roster, I swear I don’t.
Patrick Osborn undoubtedly deserved his all start slot. Derrick DePriest deserved a slot as well. He is second in the Atlantic league in saves and has a 2.04 ERA.
I have to wonder if fan votes for Atlantic League all stars were actually counted. The roster doesn’t make sense to me.

Well, no one is perfect. I should have said my nickname for Sandel is E-6. Patrick Osborn is 5 on the scoresheet, and Patrick is not as error-prone as Sandel.

While Sandel seems to make his share of decent plays, I have seen him throw more wild throws to first base than I can count. For a while there, it seemed as if he was solely responsible for every E we had on our board. I am not sure how he was voted into the All-Star game, but I will say this: the home crowd loves him for some reason I have yet to fathom. Everytime I have seen him take an at bat, the crowd cheers. Don’t ask my why, because I don’t know.
I agree about DePriest too. He’s the closer the other teams don’t want to face.
I would like to see the total fan votes personally. I’m curious how much of the fan vote counted vice the managers, etc.
Sandel as an All-Star? Pfft. It’s all already been said above.
As for DePriest, I’m biased; we’re his host family. Even so I couldn’t agree more. He was the league’s number one reliever last year (for the Barnstormers). As of last night he has twelve saves. Give him his due, League.
2-Mile: You’re his host family! Awesome. I think that any fan that reaches out and embraces a player they way you folks have deserves way many kudos! Thanks!
DePriest is a great closer. I really love to see him come in and strike out the side on the way out.
